It’s been a few months since my last newsletter, and I thought it was time to share a few updates on documentary projects I’m involved in.

KING COAL is coming to theaters in August!

I’m very excited to share that KING COAL, Elaine McMillion Sheldon’s film which I associate produced, will be screening in theaters across the U.S. starting on August 11th! The film will be opening theatrically at the DCTV Theater (August 11-17) in New York City and rolling out from there across the country.

In NYC, we will be doing a different event every night with special guest moderators, including Yance Ford (Strong Island), Debra Granik (Winter’s Bone), choreographer, Celia Rowlson-Hall (Aftersun); and with live music + resonant discussions across the themes - environment, labor, art - of the film.

HOLLYWOODGATE is premiering at Venice

I’m also very happy to share that HOLLYWOODGATE, Ibrahim Nash’at’s debut feature documentary will be premiering at the Venice Film Festival, Aug 30, 2023 – Sat, Sep 9, 2023. I’m so honored to have associate produced this film, and to have had the opportunity to work with Ibrahim and producers Talal Derki, Shane Boris, Odessa Rae, and the rest of the incredible team on it.

More news to come on this exciting film very soon.

BARBARA HAMMER PROJECT awarded Brooklyn Arts Council grant + pitched at DocsBarcelona

Brydie O’Connor’s feature documentary on the life, work and legacy of lesbian filmmaker Barbara Hammer was recently awarded a grant from Brooklyn Arts Council, and we had the tremendous opportunity of pitching the film to international distributors, programmers and other industry representatives at DocsBarcelona. We’ve also begun production, with some very special shoots in Barbara Hammer’s archives at Yale and at Canyon Cinema in San Francisco!

HUMBOLDT USA continues production + holds work-in-progress screening
